I have a PS2 and wouldn't trade it for anything (Xbox included). I tried playing on the Xbox at one of the store demos and, to me anyway, the Xbox controller becomes uncomfortable after playing on it awhile (unless, as I've been told, you have rather large hands...in other words, the Xbox would be uncomfortable for men with smaller hands and most women). Game makers are slowly but surely starting to make more titles for the Xbox, but they didn't have anywhere near the same amount of titles ready at the console launch date as what the PS2 did. And the PS2's library is still expanding at a faster rate than the other two systems'.
As for Gamecube being a kiddy system, yeah, they have a lot of kids games, but they do have some adult oriented games too, like Resident Evil. Really, IMO, the best way is to go to a store that has all three set up for customers to play and decide which you like best as far as graphics, controller feel, and amount of games available that fit your tastes.
