am planning trip to motel where my notebook's modem has not been able to function before

it has something to do with the facilities switchboard??

last time i was able to get out 10% of the time by manually dialing..but this only worked 10%..i need something to work better!!

any thoughts---when i attempt to dial out, no connection is made..software dials but no tones/handshaking occurrs..the software merely disconnects.

i dont want to b computerless for 9 days ---(

comput=Dell Latitude LM P166MMX withb 56k pcmcia modm. My friend's notebook (compaq 133 with built in 56kfelx) does same thing.

this prob obly happens at this one location--i cld stay elesewhere but am determined to find way to solve this if poss.
