Via Ac97 audio problem on new build
I just finished my first new build using the excellent directions provided by Pcmech, and everything went fine except that I've been unable to get any sound whatsoever from my onboard audio. I have a Shuttle AV49V/N mobo. I installed WinXP home and loaded the drivers as provided by Shuttle. When I try to load the audio driver, it gives me the message, "VIA Ac97 audio chipset is not enabled on this system...", then it tells me to enable in the Bios. This parameter is set to "auto" as it is supposed to be.
I've seen some similar postings on the web but nothing that seems to really help. Shuttle has been very slow with a response. I suspect it may have something to do with WinXP loading drivers that prevents identification of the Via hardware. Any ideas?
