I am sure we drove Charliey crazy in the post he started...I feel that we got off of his topic alittle bit talking about seti 2.7.
Well I played with 2.7 all day on different computer this is what seems to be the case...
On a P2/233 with 64 it runs slower then the 2.04 verison
on a K6-3/450 with 256 meg of Ram it apears to have cut about 5 hours off of the time for a work Unit...
On a k6-2/500 it looks to be about the same as the 2.04 verison...
On a k6-2/400 it looks like it is going to be about an hour or so faster...
on a P1-200 I noticed about .5 percent increase per hour...
Keep in mind this was not a controlled experiment....
Every computer had a different work unit..
I didn't take the time to use the same work unit for a real comparison...
However on the P2-233 was funny
Using the same work unit here
verison 2.04 at 7 hours it had about 45 percent...
I upgrade to 2.7 and it started the same unit over...
after about 7 hours it had only processed about 35 percent...
That is how I am basing my belief that it runs slower on some machines...
It does appear to be more geared to the AMD processors...
Much like the 2.04 verison is gear toward the Pentiums.
However I had no way to test a High End intell processor. I have a friend who is testing it on a Xeon processor...
As soon as I hear, I will post his findings...
