I'm almost positive that only one of those buttons can be checked at a time. I have had the never dial a con happen to me before but don't know why it did. Have you tried cliking the always dial my default button? If not try that it can't hurt. That's how my connection is set up.

What Bailey says is true also. Update will dial out if it's configured to do so. You can have it just let you know that updates are available and not dial I believe.
