Then you will need it.

Try downloading the latest driver from http://www.diamondmm.com and uninstall the modem and wave device - and reinstall it with the new driver. Mike doesn't need to be attached. Supra installs go better if you jumper the modem to Com2 (after disabling Com 2 in BIOS) instead of using plug and play.

That way, Windows will see the modem only as Com 2 - and set the port properties to 115200, 8, none, 1, hardware - then use the Modems applet in control panel to detect and install the modem.
