Well, consider the frequency octave ranges: 20Hz, 40Hz, 80Hz, 160Hz, 320Hz, and so on. If your receiver can attenuate the cut off, let it. Many receivers have selectable sub outs in octaves. Usually 80Hz and 160Hz. My personaly preference is 80Hz since I have full range speakers for my fronts (40Hz-22KHz). So I let my sub do what I feel it should in a home theater, make me feel the lows.
