I've never bought PC parts, but I have had great success buying hundreds of dollars worth of electronic components, such as big capacitors, SCRs, and magnet wire, that would have cost much more had I purchased them new. It could be though that there are fewer scams in that category, simply because not many people are interested in that kind of stuff.
