No offence taken,I am not an AOL user.A friend of mine has this problem.
Here is what I have found:
1.AOL 5.0 connects at 50K while AOL 6.0 connects at 28.8K on the same computer.
2.Went to my parents and AOL 4.0 connects at 46 K.
I never will use AOL,I will stick with my cable modem.
