It can happen and I have seen it although it doesn't occur often. When troubleshooting try the easiest and the obvious first. As RJ suggests if the other printer doesn't work try resetting the port settings for the printer then the BIOS settings for the port. If it is actually the port that has gone bad it may be a warranty issue with your board or for a realitively small $ amount you can purchase another LPT port - LAVA is one brand name I can think of.
