I tried a new trick today and it worked. A customer's mobo died and I moved all his stuff to a new case and mobo. I deleted enum as has been explained before. But I had no drivers for everything. So whenever Windows couldn't find a driver for anything I directed it to C:\windows\system and it found everything it needed except for USB ports. These had to have the win98 cd because the old mobo did not have USB and they had never been installed before.
I wouldn't guarantee that this will work for you but it sure did work for me.
