That does sound like a wiring fault, unless the LED's are wired in series then a failure of just one would prevent current flowing through all three.

Easy to check if theyre wired in series, there will be one wire from a leg of the first one going to a leg of the second one, the other leg of the second one goes to the leg of the third one, then a wires come from the first and 3rd led's back to the motherboard that would be in series.
