The IEEE 1394 firewire is for connecting components like a camcorder.
.....a firewire PCI card can cost about $25 itself, I'd go with the Deluxe so you have that option already ready in case you need it. I ended up buying a non-deluxe version and had to buy a firewire PCI card. I didn't think I'd need a firewire connection when I was building my computer, then a month afterwards the wife asked if I could transfer some of the video tapes to a DVD disc....
