The mod's working again now, maplin electronics finally got the LED's I needed in stock. I've now wired the LED's in parralel and recalculated the resistors required so i've reduced it from 12 resistors down to 3. Also found a PLC-see attachment in my workshop, so i'm programming it up (ladder logic) to give manual control from the rotary switch or auto control (sequencing) of the colour scheme. Once i've got the ladder logic sorted I can convert it to relay logic and use small solid state relays & NE555 timer chips to make an electronic version of the sequencer.
Now I'm sure this hasn't been done before
