If the bios doesn't see the CDRW, either the drive is defective or your IDE cable needs to be replaced.

If the POST screen shows all drives, your drives are ok and cabling/jumpering is correct - if not, they aren't.

Assuming all drives are seen at POST, boot into SAFE MODE and remove ALL cd drives, hard drives, zip drives, and IDE controllers in device manager, reboot.

If the secondary still comes up flagged, look for that NOIDE key as I previously indicated.
