Well, you also need to right brand and such of the memory - like in the Radeon 9500 -->9700 Mod, you need to make sure that the RAM was a correct type and of correct lining. It really depends on how an individiual card handles it. I say it's not recommended, as doing so does several things. First of all, you void the warranty. Second of all, if you corrupt the hardware to the extent that the flashing wouldn't put it back to the original X800 Pro you had, it wouldn't be very good. I have heard of success stories of failures in X800 XT flashing, but flashing it back to the original X800 pro setting would return it to normal.

That being said, the best card out there is still the Radeon X800 XT PE and the GeForce 6800 Ultra.
