Emulators for the most part (like the one above) are created by individuals not by the company. I agree completely with you, Apple would not profit from an emulator so they wouldn't bother making one. Although I think it would be a good idea to create some sort of demo emulator so that Windows users have the opportunity to experience the world of Mac, profits could be made by switching users from Windows to Mac. Personally, I would like to try Mac, but I don't want to buy an expensive computer only to find that I don't even like the OS, it's too much of a hassle.
I know that I would never have tried Linux if I had to buy a new computer just to do so. If I did I would be very disappointed because I have found that I do not like Linux nearly as much as Windows XP. I don't want to go through the same thing with a Mac and have sunk costs.
