Let's go back to trying to install XP on your SATA disk. It should be possible to install XP on it, all you have to do is install the RAID drivers on a floppy when setup starts. When Windows tells you you can press F6 (while it's loading all the other drivers) do so. You should get a text menu with the drivers, if you choose the correct ones you should be able to pick it as a disk to install to. All this happens in the boot time setup procedure of Windows XP, which you access by booting from the Windows XP cd. Could you tell us if you get an error message (like the swap thing) while trying this ? Oh and you best do it without that ide drive connected, the easiest way is to unplug the 4 pin power plug from the drive.
