high temps... not helped by basic motherboard ?
Hi guy's...
what started off as a simple upgrade 6 months ago has mutated into a major replacement of all my components.
Where I am just now is...
ASRock P4VT8+ Motherboard
3.0Ghz Pentium 4 Prescott
1Gb DDR Ram
9800 Radeon Pro Graphics
dual fan 400Wt PSU
three fans
artic cooler cpu fan
My currrent problem is the heat of my pc. In general my cpu runs about 74 degrees celcius and while I can run my pc, I can only play games for about 30 minutes before it crashes (due to heat I am presuming)
My current thinking is that the cheap motherboard I bought now cannot cope with new cpu (used to have 2.3Ghz celeron), etc and I need a superior board to handle everything. The problem is however, I don't want to splash a tonne on a new board if it's likely the cpu will remain the same heat.
I have checked all my bits are compatible and checked most things like turning fans around, making sure cpu & fan are ok and pasted up (but not too much) etc.
If anyone has any thoughts... they sure would be appreciated
Thanks
Gordon
