I booted in DOS and renamed config.sys-autoexec.bat-system.ini and win.ini. Then did over the top Win98. When Windows ran for the first time, it reloaded the old registry, etc. The config.sys only item is " setver, but the autoexec.bat it reloaded has the Sound Blaster items in the new one, although without check marks. I will look for Pam123's ATI removal thread. Perhaps that left something in the registry, or perhaps it is a Sound Blaster registry item I can not find.
I will start over.
