Not long ago, searches from the address bar stopped working. Instead of using the search at MSN, they simply took me to a 404-like error page. No problem, I just disabled searching through the address bar and forgot about it. I preferred Google anyway.
But now, some crackpot site has hijacked this feature. I don't know when it happened, but "Quick! Search" has put themselves in charge of handling searches from the address bar, and I can't fix it. For some reason, Ad-Aware must be missing whatever it is that's causing it, because it show me as having 0 items. In addition, when this "virtualsearches" page comes up, I get two blank popups as well.
Again, I quit using the feature, and only found out about this by accident when I hit enter before finishing typing an address, but just the fact that this has happened severely irks me. I've included a thumbnail to a screenshot of the page in case it will help.
They have "instructions" for removing their service, but it involves
installing an activex control, which doesn't sound right at all. Any ideas?
