Wireless Router help.

I've used the search function, and found some recommendations on the LinkSys WRT54G Wireless Router. That seems fine with me, but I do have a couple of questions still.

We have this PC downstairs, with a cable modem. My ISP uses a HTTP Proxy (which might be a problem?). What I'd like to do is use a wireless router to connect my newly built computer upstairs to the internet. I have no experience whatsoever with routers, let alone wireless ones. Therefore I have a couple of questions

1) My motherboard, A8V DX is some kind of "Wireless Edition" thingy. It came with a weird black rubber receiver and an extra PCI card I never used. Does this have anything to do with what I'm trying to do?

2) Will I be able to make full use of the bandwith provided by my ISP via this router ?

3) Are there any sites that give a good overview on how to connect the PC upstairs to the internet via a wireless router, or is anybody willing to explain it to me via the forum ? I checked google, and the forum search button, but I didnt find anything viable.

Thanks in advance
