If it is a cable sold for this purpose (laplink, direct cable connection, file transfer, etc.) it should work.
Well - it looks like you will need to use TCP/IP - just manually assign IP addresses to TCP/IP for the DIALUP ADAPTER on both machines - try 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. You will have to enable file and print sharing over TCP/IP - which is not a good practice but you can change this when you are done. Windows is going to bitch at you for trying to change the TCP/IP properties of the dialup adapter, but do it anyway - unless you have a dialup networking connection that you use with a modem. If this is the case, you will need a 3rd party software package such as Laplink to get the parallel ports connected.
