if the two computers are fairly close you would connect the router to the modem via the wain port, then connect each computer to the router's lan ports, they are rj45 switching ports, and most newer routers have at least 4 of them, use a standard eathernet patch cable.
if the second computer is a long distance away and you don't want to run a cat-5 cable to it, you have the option of going wireless to the second computer by useing a wireless router, which is also fairly enexpensive.
the second computer may already have a rj45 lan port in the back of it, if not , a very cheap nic card can be pluged into it to give you this feature,
