New ram+processor, MOBO or VidCard dead
I have a D865 PERL MOBO, 4x512 Kingston HyperX 184pin DDR400 ram w/hyperspread, 3.0Ghz 800Mhz FSB 478-Pin Pentium 4 Processor w/a prescott core, a 450w PSU, 36GB Raptor WD HD 10000rpm, 100GB WD HD 7200rpm, a dvd-r/rw 4x, a Digital Research 52x24x52 Internal CD-RW Drive, a GeForce4 TI4800 SE 128MB DDR AGP 8X w/ TV-Out & DVI, and a 15" MultiSync LCD flat panel monitor. Around 1-2 weeks ago my computer was running fine, I only had 2x512MB Kingston HyperX in it then and a Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 533MHz 478 pin CPU. I installed the new 3.0Ghz processor and my comp ran fine with it, then I installed the ram and a week later (which would have been yesterday), my computer will not output video to the monitor. The monitor has been tested and works. I have tried taking out the new ram and processor and replacing them with the old and still the same problem. I think I may have burned out the Vid card, but the fan that is on the vid card runs so I am not so sure. The PSU is tested and works as well.
I think it may be my MOBO though because today I took off the heat sink and turned the cpu on to see if the processor would get hot since it seemed like it wasn't starting on the boot. (This is not a very smart nor good thing to do, I do not recomment trying this). The processor was cool as could be. I also noticed that my case fan on the same side of the MOBO wasn't working, but the VideoCards fan which is right near the Case fan was running. The PSU powers up and turns on all the drives, and they all work fine. I cannot get any video output at all though and I thought it may have been the Vid Card, but now I think it may be the processor. Any thoughts? Thanks.
