its probably not to do with service pack 2, sometimes it only installs the program for the sound card and the drivers have to be installed separately. Go to control panel, system, device manager and check to see if there is a little exclamation mark next to the sound card, if there is then click install driver and tell it to search in the correct folder on the cd.
