It has 4 ports so yes, you can use a network cable. In fact, you should because using wireless to change modem/router settings can be a pain.

CISCO is a good brand but check if it is a "g" speed.
Some people recommend using the same brand of equipment. They work together right out of the box in default mode. Not necessary but convenient for initial setup.
