Thumbs up regarding self install cable

i had my cable(cox roadrunner) installed about 1-2 years ago. i've heard theres an option to do a 'self-install' which is half price. mine is already installed so im just interested in this. Basically, they come out, run the cable, and make sure the signal gets to the modem. You must supply your own nic card and do the rest of the setup on your own. Since they assign you an IP through their DHCP , im just wondering what it is that you would have to do. i am looking for a step by step exactness, do you specify your subnet mask, DHCP server, and DNS server and thats all there is to it? I assume they need to provide you with that information . any reply is welcome

EDIT: also there must be some option to be a DHCP client , how is this enabled through windows 98 se
