I hope you simply mistyped - you don't need RASPPPoE to use a Linksys router with a PPPoE connection - it should be handled within the router. Did you really mean to leave the "RAS" off?

I read the Linksys KB article - now, it seems to me that once you are connected and rebooted, the connection should be "persistent" if you enable the "keep alive" in the PPPoE setup in the router.
