for e-mail you need port 25 (smtp) open and
port 110 (pop3) open.
if you suspect you have an open relay you can have it tested at

http://www.abuse.net/relay.html

if you are relaying, closing ports wont fix the problem you need to secure your
mail server with a configuration change.
