If you use the WRT54GS, that's already wireless and MAY be able to service the whole house wirelessly, depending on many factors. Yes, I'd connect the server to it with a cable, and wire ALL feasible computers. Only use wireless where you can't run a cable or for laptops. There are ways to extend the range of the wireless - antennas, bridges, repeaters. Cross that bridge when you get there. If you want a really high powered router, look at the Linksys WRT54GX and its matching PCMCIA cards, but bring a FAT wallet.
