Monitor

While working with my computer the other day, my EMC 19 inch monitor screen closed in from both sides to the center, and went completely black. After this the monitor started clicking. I then hooked the monitor up to another computer. This time it just clicked, and it stayed black.

Do you have any idea what is causing this problem or how I can fix it? For instance, could it be a loose solder joint, or something like a relay.

I hope it's something fairly obvious.

Also, I would like to know how to drain the high power voltage from the back of the monitor. I used to do it with television sets, but forgot how to do it.

Thank-you,
Don
