My sister's heading off to college in September and she needs a new laptop. First off, she doesn't need to do anything more than download (legally hopefully) and listen to music and to use Microsoft Office. Maybe burn the occasional CD. The two processor options on many of the laptops in question are Celeron M as the standard issue and the option to upgrade to Pentium M. The Celerons range from 1.3 to 1.4 ghz I believe, and the Pentiums from 1.5 to 2.0, of which, if anything, she would get the 1.5, which, like the Celerons, has 400 mhz fsb. She honestly doesn't need anything more than the basic laptop, in fact, right now, she uses an old dell 800mhz p3 dell to do the same thing she'll do with her new one. (It's monitor is falling off and it is not transportable.) But does anyone think it is worth the extra $150 or so to go from the 1.3 Celeron up to the 1.5 Pentium, which has 2MB cahce instead of 1? Is there something else better about the Pentiums that the numbers don't show? Thankful as always, Karthik.
