Question Upgrading an ABIT SH6 or go'in AMD...

I have this great ABIT SH6 MOBO. So stable with all the overclocking potential one could want in an Intel solution. I really want a gig processor to put in it. There's a slot 1, p3, 500 in it now. So, I'm look'in at the prices for CPU's. I can get a AMD 1.3 for less than HALF of an P3, 1 gig. But, that means the obvious, an new case with pwr sup and mobo. The guy's at Intel know this, and I wonder if it's one of the reasons they price cpu's like this. It is alot simpler just to replace the CPU. But, I don't mind the challenge of setting up from scratch. What I do mind is the cash flo if'n ya catch my drift. So, what about a happy meduium... Would the Celeron 850 (100mhz) work in this MOBO (ABIT SH6) I have an ABIT slotkey, but, the info on the web site says supported up to a Celeron 733. So, since the Celeron is running @ 100fsb, would the mobo see it as a P-3? or? I was also wondering if the 128 kb of cashe is running at full processor speed like it's big brother or what, and what does a good overclock look like for this particular chip. If this is a good possibility, then this upgrade would likely hold me over for a while till the cash flows freely. And then, most likely an AMD solution is in the future as the P3 seems at a dead end with this MOBO and you could almost buy an AMD processor and mobo combo for the price of one Intel cpu. I like Intel based systems, but, I resent the way they price gouge. Thoughts on any soultions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
