If you have some experience in bios upgrading and if nothing else helps there is a utility named CBROM.EXE this utility allows you to remove and reinsert data into the bios ..

You have the chance to test this before you burn the bios back to the chip and the most important thing is that it runs on plain DOS.here a short cutout of it:

CBROM V6.02B (C)Award Software 1999 All Rights Reserved.
Syntax:
E:\CBROMN.EXE InputFile [/other] [8000:0] [RomFile|Release|Extract]
E:\CBROMN.EXE InputFile [/D|logo|vga....] [RomFile|Release|Extract]
InputFile : System BIOS to be added with Option ROMs
/D : For display all combined ROMs informations in BIOS
/vga : Add VGA BIOS ROM to System BIOS
/logo : Add OEM LOGO BitMap to System BIOS
/oem0-7 : Add special OEM ROM to System BIOS
/pci : Add PCI BIOS ROM to System BIOS
/err : Return error code after executed
/isa : Add ISA BIOS ROM to System BIOS.(/isa Filename [xxxx:0])
/cpucode, /epa, /acpitbl, /vsa, /hpm, /hpc, /fnt0 - 5, /mib
RomFile : File name of option ROM to add-in
Release : Release option ROM in current system BIOS
Extract : Extract option ROM to File in current system BIOS
<<< Examples >>>
E:\CBROMN.EXE 2a4ib000.bin /D
E:\CBROMN.EXE 2a4ib000.bin /vga VGA.BIN /pci aha7850.bin
E:\CBROMN.EXE 2a4ib000.bin /oem0 YYY.ROM
E:\CBROMN.EXE 2a4ib000.bin /pci extract
E:\>

You can do alot of things and I think with this you can also update the controller bios code in the ASUS bios - But if you never have done something like this then DON'T EVEN TRY and if you still going to then be sure to have a BACKUP CHIP READY with the original DATA of the bios of your computer .!

Use this on you OWN RISK because it may can be destructive to your Computer if used the wrong way.!!!
