I've been informed that on certain motherboards that have CPU FAN with thermal speed adjustment, the CPU heatsink fan will indeed stop spinning if the CPU is idling or under very light load. For myself I would
never want to see the heatsink fan stop spinning, but apparently with certain newer motherboards it does happen.
