Cutting the side fan grills would be a cake walk with the dremel.
I have a total of 6 intake and 3 exhaust and my case runs pretty cool. I think the NUMBER of fans is irrelevant if your careful about fan arrangement and mind your CFM's.
Example, my four front intake fans are all cheapo quad LED's that push probably only 25-30cfm each. The side instakes do about the same. The 120mm blow hole pushes a considerable amount more and so does the 120mm in my PSU(new PSU since pictures were taken). Then theres that little 60mm on the back which I put there mainly to pull the warm air away from the "black box's" on the motherboard which have heatsinks on them. Not sure what they are but I understand they have a big effect on power rail stability and should be kept cool when overclocking.
