Remove all your mice and enable the touchpad. Boot into safe mode and remove ALL mice from device manager. Reboot into normal mode and install the touchpad driver. The touchpad driver should work just fine with any PS/2 mouse. Look carefully in the bios for anything that defines the external PS/2 port for keyboard or mouse use.
