I found the answer from ZA.. The below quote is the response I received a short time ago. So if anyone else has the same issue this is the answer..

This is the ZA system tray alert that blinks whenever there is a security alert. To turn it off open your ZA control panel, go to Alerts & Logs > Main panel > Advanced button > System Tray Alert tab and uncheck the box. I keep mine unchecked for I find it annoying.
