Want to build a new gaming rig. Around $1000, though
[FONT=Trebuchet MS]I'm looking to make a computer that will replace my current one to do work, play games, surf the internet, whatever one might do with a computer. I'm a litte new at this but I have done my homework on how this stuff works. I'm a quite a budget with around $1000 for just the guts of the computer though. So I went to newegg.com and built one in my cart. This is what I've got:
MoBo:
EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard
$95.00
[I originally wanted to go with AGP but I decided just to go for the PCI-Ex]
Case:
AeroCool JetMaster Jr - BS Black/Silver Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case -
$59.00
[Doesn't it look pretty?]
Optical Drive:
GIGABYTE Black IDE Combo Drive Model GO-B5232A-B - Retail
$28.99
[The most I with this part is play audio CDs, watch DVDs, and burn some CDs]
Cooling Device for HD:
Spire FlowCooler HD05010S1M4 50mm Hard Drive Cooler - Retail
$4.99
[I heard that the HD I got can get mighty toasty. And I've lost a harddrive to toastiness]
HardDrive:
Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6L250R0 250GB 7200 RPM IDE Ultra ATA133 Hard Drive - OEM
$97.00
[I was orginally going for two 80's. One for backup. But I realized that the most I usually need to back up is really quite small, so I'll just use CDs to backup anything important.]
RAM:
GeIL Value 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model GE1GB3200BDC - Retail
Model #:GE1GB3200BDC
$84.99
[I think that the not-so-popular-brands are just as well off as the ones that are popular]
OS:
Microsoft Windows XP HOME Edition With Service Pack 2 - OEM
Model #:N09-01152
$91.95
PSU:
ASPIRE ATX-AS520W BLACK ATX 520W Power Supply - Retail
$58.00
[Plenty of power to juice up any upgrades.]
Processor:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model
$146.00
[Not too expensive and it seems solid enough]
VideoCard:
Leadtek PX6800GT TDH Geforce 6800GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail
$288.00
[I've wanted one for quite a while and I don't what to get an ATi. If I do build another, I could SLi two of these right? Otherwise I know that I'll go with this.]
SubTotal: $953.92
Well in range for my budget and I'm quite happy with what I've got. I've already chosen my extra stuff. Headphones, keyboard, mouse, etc. If you've got any suggestions or if you know of anything that could be incompatible, could you please tell me? I really hope that I got everything in there...
Thanks!!
