I'd be quite comfortable using MSI boards - and the K8N Neo4 Platinum is a very good board. The position of MSI (and others brands such as Gigabyte) in the 'second tier' is based on quality issues that both these manufacturers have had in the past. In both cases, however, these issues appear to be sorted.
ASUS, DFI, Intel occupy the top tier simply because they have provided excellent motherboards consistently.
Louds3 - DFI boards are excellent for overclocking, if you are planning on doing this then yes - buy one. If not, then either should suit your needs perfectly.
