Again, it's not necessary .. newer fones that are not meant to be on a GSM network do not have SIM cards. There are a few providers in N.America that have GSM networks. Cingular & TMobile are two of them.

Addendum:
There apparently was a C331 sold by Cingular on a GSM 850/1900 dualband as well as a TDMA 800/1900+AMPS version sold by them as well, which is weird! Anyways it looks like you're sitting with the TDMA version of it. source: http://www.howardchui.com/modules.ph...icle&artid=103
