Apple and Flash

This is an open letter from Steve Jobs on why Apple has no intention of adopting flash for any of its devices.

"Adobe has repeatedly said that Apple mobile devices cannot access “the full web” because 75% of video on the web is in Flash. ... iPhone, iPod and iPad users aren’t missing much video."
Seriously Jobs?...and that's from one paragraph...

Meh .. Pot calling Pot black and that's all that I've got to say. I have no love for either one of them. And I did like Jon Stewart calling them 'appholes'.

I did enjoy that Stewart clip

Basically though Apple is right but ( Of course there's a but) I want to run HULU on my Touch and, when I finally get one, on my iPad.

Will it be available in HTML5 by then, then that's just fine by me, but I'm not buying in till that happens.
I can perfectly understand that it may not matter much to others ( Go enjoy your iPad, I envy you.) but most of my video viewing has migrated to the computer and I've left the TVs to the guys sports' watching

"Apple has many proprietary products too. Though the operating system for the iPhone, iPod and iPad is proprietary, we strongly believe that all standards pertaining to the web should be open"

He's got to be kidding many proprietary products doesn't he mean ALL.

"Symantec recently highlighted Flash for having one of the worst security records in 2009. " - Yeah I value that opinion of that company that brings you a buggy version of Norton and speaking of buggy

"We also know first hand that Flash is the number one reason Macs crash."

Steve Job just wants to blame all the reasons why Macs crash on Adobe's Flash, I'm glad to see his big ego hasn't gotten any smaller.

So far Adobe is taking the high road and not sinking to a (well I would write it but I don't want to get banned ). If I were Adobe I would go to Apple and say "Cough, Cough don't forget a lot of Mac Users use ADOBE'S CS5 products....Hint Hint

I agree Flash isn't very well suited for small mobile devices, but at the same time if Apple doesn't want to play ball then why should Adobe have to?

By allowing Flash, Apple loses it's "big brother" control of their device. Since Flash can be used to program applications people could, for example, build a porn application and then run it on their iWhatever through Flash without Apple being able to control it.

Apple is a control freak (you can't argue that) and by allowing Flash they would lose control. Stability is a convenient reason to say you won't allow it as most people will just nod and thank Apple for "protecting" them.

It is all about one thing, and one thing only: Game app revenue. Will people still pop $2 to $10 on apps at the appstore if they can play any of the gazillion flash games?

Everything you need to know about any business relationship can be found by following the money.
