Ipod touch + flv converted videos
I was given an ipod touch and i've been trying to load a few youtube videos in it (for offline watching ) . I tried 3 or 4 different conversion ( flv to ipod-mp4) progams , the conversion always finishes but when i try to synchronise i tunes with the device the videos are not transfered because "ipod cannot play this video format " bla bla bla .
Other videos ( movies ) are played smoothly . Thank you |

Right click on one of the non-working videos and get the specs for it. I'm guessing it's iTunes compatible but that you need to take the further step of converting it specifically for the Touch.
The conversion program for that is in iTunes.

That shouldn't be a problem.
What happens when you play it back with iTunes ? |

Using iTunes select Advanced and then select convert to iPod/iPhone version.
Edit : Play it safe with the first attempt and don't try to use the HD version for this that is reserved for iPads and the "retina displays" . Last edited by pam123; 12-13-2011 at 07:58 PM. |

Handbrake is excellent but I'm not sure if it will convert directly from .flv files. For these, I use the 'YouTube Downloader' software. It's free and is a nice easy container for the FFMPEG decoder. This will convert your files to MOV files, or similar.

I just use the video convert tool Brorsoft Video Converter now I'm using to convert some FLV videos to my iPod with MP4 output format and sync with iTunes. Everything goes well. You may have a try.

I never was able to convert .flv with Handbrake, but i have Slysoft video converter and that works wonders with any video format, including .flv. Give the trial a shot and see if it works for you, but i have been able to do it for my iTouch.
