What is this big white bar???

When capturing video using the video in on my video card this white bar shows up once in a while at random. I can only see it when playing the file back after capturing. HERE (http://groups.msn.com/1987PlymouthVoyager/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=107) is a screenshot. Some times the bar will show up for only a few seconds and other times it will stay for minutes. I have to capture all over again. It is really annoying. This happens no matter what program or codec I use to capture. It has happened in Virtual VCR, Ulead Video Studio 8, and Windows Movie Maker. I have the latest Nvidia WDM capture drivers for my video card. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I am capturing home video from my VCR. It is not copy protection.

I have no idea but how is the cam working? Maybe it stems from there.

I'm capturing from my VCR. It does the same thing no matter what I am capturing. Be it TV, home video, commercial tapes, whatever. I know it's on the computer end.

you seem to know a lot about pc`s , so I am just going to take a shot in the dark and ask if you updated your mobo chipset ????....I had the same lines in win98se I.E.6 butsmaller all the way down my screen , but when i updated they were all gone...hope this helps

It's just a capturing glitch - nothing more, nothing less. Use something with a smaller footprint to capture with - something like VirtualDub. It's better for capture than VideoStudio 8 (and most other consumer-oriented video editors).

I have tried Virtual dub. It does the same thing. I thought I heard a while back that this was a WDM driver issue. If so, how would it be fixed?

If it's happened with other capture programs, then it's still a capture glitch, just driver related. You may have to play around with what capture drivers work best with your card. Or get a dedicated capture card - video cards that also capture are going to give up something someplace - and it's usually capture issues.

That's about all I can think of. I'm no driver expert nor am I an nVidia expert.

Well thanks anyway. I will just deal with it because it only happens about 3% of the time. It's not a project killer. It's just annoying having to go back and recapture parts.
