Video issue .....Please help.......

I have a Dell Latitude laptop, It just started having these video issues...( I left it alone with my 10 year old) Now usually when I unhook the power cord the display gets a little dim, thats expected but now it does it in reverse, its at its brightest when its running on the battery and when I hook up the power cord it gets dim, how can i remedy this my screen is real dim almost tinted if you ask me when the cord is hooked up.....................................

Check the bios settings - some laptops have backlight settings for both AC powered and battery operation. You also may have some Fn key combinations that will affect this.

I've checked the bios but I dont have a clue to what an fn key or keys are or what to do with them..........................if you could explain that in laymons terms

Fn=Function Key. Your laptop backlight may be controlable via one of the function keys.

You have a Fn key, it's in the lower left corner of the keyboard, and it says "Fn" in blue on it. If you hold this down, any other key on the keyboard that has an icon in blue on it is enabled. Look on your top row "F" keys, some of those will have them, and some of them will control display aspects such as brightness and contrast, and switching from internal to external display.

Opps...my bad. I was close though. I guess all laptops are not made alike - my VAIO doesn't have said blue 'Fn' key.
