View Full Version : cd burner gone bad?

i got a cd burner here and everytime i try 2 burn something it fails 2 write to disks, now im thinking that the cd's are bad but that imposible first of all there brand new, they before they were working, now when i used like 7cd they all failed so what do u think its just bad luck or the cd burner is bad

It is unlikely that you have had bad luck that many times. Have you tried burning at a slower speed?

I agree that you should try to burn at a slower speed and I would also turn off all background software, (use CTRL-ALT-DEL to see whats running) and check that that you have the latest driver for that model CD Burner.

are you using rewirtable disks that are to high speed for your drive? (that happend to me)

well i did go down 2 16x and that still did not help. its a 40x burner i should not have 2 go that low, and no i was not running anything at the time, and i was using cd-r's

it can read disks just not burn them, ill try 4x lol

What are you using to burn them? I've had big problems with the windows burning engine.

Also, what speed are the disc rated for? Could it be possible that you're trying to burn the discs faster than they are rated?

Apart from the above questions, have you upgraded the burner drive recently?? Because if you're using Nero, you need to install the program for that specific drive

well i do got nero and im using 48x cds, so thats not a problem, and its not recently i never open the dell case just 1 or 2 times 2 blow all the dust out
