We have had a problem with our cd/rw (Sony) for about 5 months now, it would not recognize a cd. So I decided to get a new one, so I bought another Sony CRX 230 A. I installed it like the instructions said and installed the software. So now when we open the software to record something a window comes up that says that an ASPI Manger has not been installed and then another box comes up and says that I need a SCSI Board Driver. I used the old ribbon cable from my last cd. Does anyone have a clue as to what is happening?

Did you uninstall the old burning software first? What was it? What is the new burning software? What version of Windows?

Ok let's start form the begining, my original cd/rw would not recognize a disk. I removed the old software Sony CD Complete Pro version 1.8.1. Then I removed the old drive and installed the new drive using the new flat cable provided, made sure the jumper was set to master like the old drive and put the covers back on and connected all of the wires. started the comp. and started to install the new software it just says Sony Software disc Rev. 4.20W. it took off on it's own like it should so I figured this was it. After the software was installed I restarted like it prompted me to do. Then when I Clicked on the software it Says ASPI manager has not been installed. Went to explaination and it says Connect the SCSI board and check that the necessary driver is installed. So here is where I stand. I did it by the book but just my luck with this thing. Thanks for trying to help glc.
