I had a new motherboard and a WD 40 gig HD installed. When I got the computer back I got BSOD and crash after crash. When I took the computer back the tech said I had a software problem and it would be best to format the drive. When you format the HD, you essentially wipe everything out, correct? Will this have any implications on my HD in the future? I've always have been led to believe that the more programs and applications you run on your computer, the more problems and tendencies towards conflicts? Any thoughts?
(P.S. How many times can you format a drive?)

No limit to formatting and yes you'll wipe it clean. If it's a new hd, didn't the 'tech' already do a clean install of the operating system? Or is this an additonal hd?

Yeah, surely the tech could quite easily have fixed the problem and reformatted
Unless of course it was possible to recover some data off it and he thought you might like to

This is not a 2nd hard drive. My main hard drive was failing, so all he did was copy from one to the other.
