View Full Version : I Keep getting kicked offline by the same SMURF!

Whenever im online for a long time it automatically disconnects and my firewall shows that a Smurf was trying to get in my PC and its the SAME IP address thats trying to access me EVERY time.heres the IP address just incase it helps. 192.168.1.1

that looks like a private ip from within your LAN how large is your network????
do you have assigned ip's or is there a dhcp server???
and what OS (windows?) are you using

Scan for Viruses with http://www.trendmicro.com online free virus scanner
That's your router's IP, what the heck is telling you that it's a smurf? What firewall are you using?

im using pccillin 2002,i update my virus definitions regularly.its only 2 pcs on the network.

Your router is sending ICMP(smurf) requests to your computer i believe. Your fire wall isnt liking it.

So wat can i do about this smurf is there any way to get rid of it? The router and everything is set up correctly but i dont get service half the time.

BTW my PC isnt the Host computer ,is there a way i can fix this problem from here?
The PCCillin firewall is not a good firewall. Uninstall it and see if your problems go away. The router's firewall is adequate protection, but if you want more protection, use something like Sygate, Zone Alarm 4.x, or Kerio.
